A 2nd-round pick in 2008, Rachal worked his way into the 49ers starting lineup midway through his rookie season, and since then, has shown improvement in his knowledge of blocking techniques and schemes.

Originally a 2nd-round (39th pick overall) draft choice by SF in 2008.

•Chilo wasn’t planning on entering the NFL Draft in 2008, but a tumor discovered in his mother’s stomach prompted him to enter early so he could help with her medical costs.
•Idolized former 49er Larry Allen and models his play after the All-Pro guard when he switches into his self-proclaimed “Beast Mode” on the football field.

•Part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack on QB Alex Smith on any of his 41 attempts vs. Jax (11/29). It marked the first time the 49ers did not give up a sack since 11/10/08, at Arz. (QB Shaun Hill – 40 attempts).

2008 (San Francisco):
•Saw action in 8 games, starting the final 6 contests at right guard.
•Inactive Games 1-2, and was active for first time in career vs. Det. (9/21), but did not play. Inactive Games 4-8.

Started 9 games at right guard as a senior, earning first-team All-American honors. Started 12 games at right guard in 2006 and was named second-team All-American. Appeared in every game as a reserve offensive guard as a redshirt freshman, seeing most of his action on special teams. Redshirted as a freshman after missing all of September following arthroscopic left knee surgery to remove torn cartilage prior to Colorado State game.
