Anderson Russell is an American football safety for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at Ohio State.

Russell joins the Redskins as a rookie safety prospect. At Ohio State, Russell started 43 of 44 career games over four seasons at Ohio State. After redshirting in 2005, he recorded 194 career tackles, six interceptions, four forced fumbles and three sacks in helping lead OSU to four consecutive Big Ten Conference championships, back-to-back BCS National Championship appearances in 2006 and 2007, a Rose Bowl victory in 2010 and an overall record of 44-8.

COLLEGE
* Four-year starter at free safety who played in 44 career games with 43 starts.
* Recorded 194 career tackles (115 solo), three sacks, four forced fumbles and six interceptions.
* As a senior, started in all 13 games and recorded 31 tackles to go along with three interceptions.
* Recorded an interception in a 33-14 win at Indiana.
* Had two interceptions in 27-24 win against eventual Orange Bowl Champion Iowa.
* As the starting free safety, had a 15-yard interception return and six tackles against Ohio.

* Had nine tackles, an interception and a forced a fumble in Fiesta Bowl loss to Texas.
* Returned from knee surgery with an outstanding effort garnering first team all-Big Ten honors from Rivals.com; fourth on team with 63 total tackles along with seven tackles for loss, three sacks and five pass break-ups for 2007; honored with the Jim Marshall “Warrior” award.
* Took over as the regular starter at free safety in week two against Texas after totaling six tackles in the season-opener against Northern Illinois.
* Had three tackles in his first start against Texas.
* Totaled six tackles and an interception vs. Cincinnati.
* Injured his knee week five at Iowa and missed the rest of the season.
* Finished with 16 tackles (eight solo) in five games.
* Redshirted in 2005 and contributed on the scout team.

* Rushed for 758 yards, averaged 8.4 yards per carry and scored 14 touchdowns as a senior in a wishbone attack.
