Antwan André Patton , better known by his stage name Big Boi, is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor, best known for being a member of American hip hop duo OutKast alongside André 3000. His work in the duo has produced six studio albums. During the duo's hiatus, he and André 3000 each announced plans to release a solo album. Big Boi's solo debut Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was released in July 2010 to respectable sales and critical acclaim.

Born in Georgia, on February 1, 1975, Antwan Andre Patton went on to make a name for his self with hip hop music. He attended school with Andre 3000 in Atlanta and formed a force with OutKast, eventually signing with LaFace Records in 1992. His brother is also into hip hop performing as Lil’ Brotha with the group Konkrete. His given name is James Patton. He is well known for his attacks on President Bush and his administration with his hit “War” which came out in 2002. War on terror is a big part of the track that he feels strongly about.

He has appeared without Andre 3000, on tracks with Trick Daddy’s 2001, 1999 Missy Elliott and Youngbloodz. Big Boi appeared in a movie Idlewild, in which he starred with Andre 3000 which was out in August of 2006. “Kryptonite” was a single from the album, “Got Purp? Volume 2,” topped the charts on Billboard Hot 100 and became a hit on hip hop radio. He was married to Sherlita and had two children, Jordon and Cross. He has a son Antwan Junior with someone else. Big Boi also has been called General Patton, Daddy Fat Sacke, Hot Tub Tony, Billy Ocean and Sir Lucious. Billy Ocean should not be confused with the rhythm and blues Leslie Charles.

OutKast is a little bit of g-funk and dirty south. Andre 3000 made a solo album and so did Big Boi; they then put the two albums together as a package called “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”. Big Boi’ single from that album package was release as a single; it was called “The Way You Move.” The Chappelle Show had Big Boi as a guest star on the show as did Nick Cannon’s Wildin Out Season 3. He is still making album as of September 2006.
