Diego Alberto Milito (born 12 June 1979 in Bernal, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine footballer who currently plays as a striker for F.C. Internazionale Milano. He also plays for the Argentine national team. A prolific and consistent center-forward, Milito has statistically averaged just over a goal every two appearances, over the course of his 10 year professional career. Out of admiration for his exploits as a player in Serie A, he has been nicknamed Il Principe ("The Prince") by Italian fans and media.

Diego is married to Sofia and they have two children. He has a younger brother named Gabriel who is also a footballer, who plays his football at Barcelona.

This former Racing Club marksman was always destined to ply his trade in European football and he excelled in Italy with Genoa and in the Spanish league with Real Zaragoza before settling at Inter in last summer.

Milito has guaranteed goals wherever he has been and his form this season has been impressive, with his efforts helping Inter to enjoy a fine run in the Champions League. Now he can turn his attentions to trying to win over a national team coach who has not been convinced by his abilities so far.

Diego Maradona has not started with Milito very often during his chaotic reign as Argentina coach and it may be that this powerful forward will be used as an impact player from the bench this summer. "I just want to be in South Africa and I will work for my place after that," states Milito.
