As a rookie in 2009, Barnes played in four games and recorded two tackles serving in a reserve role. He joined the Redskins after five years at the University of Maryland. In college, he developed the reputation as one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s hardest hitters. He started 20 contests in 2007-08 and recorded 85 tackles, including 5.5 for a loss, six interceptions, two forced fumbles and 14 passes defended.

Kevin Barnes is an American football cornerback for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. He played college football for the Maryland Terrapins at the University of Maryland, and was regarded as one of the top cornerback prospects for the 2009 NFL Draft. He was selected in the third round by the Washington Redskins.
