Matthew Broderick is an American film and stage actor who, among other roles, played the title character in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Leo Bloom in the film and Broadway productions of The Producers.

He has won two Tony Awards, one in 1983 for his featured role in the play Brighton Beach Memoirs and one in 1995 for his leading role in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He was also nominated for the Tony Award, Best Actor in a Musical, for The Producers but lost to his co-star Nathan Lane. To date, Broderick is the youngest winner of the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play.

Broderick was born in New York City, the son of Patricia (née Biow), a playwright, actress, and painter; and James Joseph Broderick, an actor. Broderick's mother was Jewish and his father was a Catholic of Irish descent. Broderick attended grade school at the City & Country School (a progressive K 8 school in Manhattan) and attended high school at Walden School (a defunct private school in Manhattan with a strong drama program). After the death of his mother, her paintings were exhibited at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in New York.

Matthew Broderick made his debut in Hollywood with the movie "Max Dugan Returns" along with actor Marsha Mason. This movie meant a lot for him as it was his first step as an actor in Hollywood. Mr. Broderick had his first big on-screen success in the light comedy movie WarGames in the year 1983.

Matthew Broderick has accomplished 2 Tony Awards, in the years 1983 and 1995 for his performance in "Brighton Beach Memoirs" the play and "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying" the musical, respectively. Apart from that he was also selected for his third Tony award for the position of Best Actor in the Musical, "The Producers". He is the first young actor of his generation to receive the Tony award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He has successfully garnered many awards and laurels and has been seen as a versatile actor by his fans across the globe.

So far we have leant only about how Mr. Matthew Broderick's career as a movie actor saw different phases and changed his life. Mr. Broderick did not focus his career only by acting in films but also decided to act and show his skills in television serials. The actor who was never before seen in any television serial made a debut in a new sitcom pilot for NBC called "Beach Lane". In the year 2008, Mr. Broderick decided to step in for the first time into a role wherein he would be seen playing a disgruntled federal official on NBC's "30 Rock". Not only he but also his wife Sarah Jessica Parker whom he married in the year 1997, made her debut in the popular show "Sex and the city" which was widely accepted and applauded by people all over.

He has so far appeared in more than 25 television movies and would keep on acting for his fans because; apart from athletics his passion has always been acting since he was a child.
