Maximiliano Rubén "Maxi" Rodríguez (born 2 January 1981 in Rosario, Santa Fe) is an Argentine footballer who currently plays for Liverpool in the Premier League.
Nicknamed La Fiera, he is commonly used as a winger, but can also operate as an attacking midfielder.
He arrived in Spain in his early 20's, and went on to spend the bulk of professional career there, playing for Espanyol and Atlético Madrid.

Liverpool added Maxi to their squad in January 2010, signing the midfielder on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid.

An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal and great vision, Maxi was signed to add guile and creativity to the Liverpool squad.

Born in Rosario, Argentina, he began his carrer with Newell's Old Boys before attracting interest from Europe, signing for Real Oviedo of the Segunda Division on loan in 2001.

An attacking talent of real class, he first shot to international prominence in Argentina's 2001 World Youth winning championship effort.

His performances with Oviedo led to interest from Espanyol, and he moved to the Catalonia club in 2002. He improved every season with Espanyol and the 15 goals he scored in 2004-05 led to a move to Atletico.

Atletico splashed out about £5 million to land this Argentine player, who spent four-and-a-half years with the club before moving to Anfield. He had already scored at Anfield ... for Atletico in the Champions League in 2008.

He was part of the Argentina squad at the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany.
