Younger brother, Florent Pietrus, was a teammate at Pau Orthez and the French National team, while his oldest brother, Ronnie Coco, also played with Pau.
Is now a shareholder with Pau Orthez.
Born in Les Abymes on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, which is located approximately 310 miles southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Left the island for France at the age of 15 to join Pau Orthez junior program.
Earned the 2006-07 Angela & Christopher Cohan Community Service Award, given annually to the Golden State player who best exemplifies the spirit of community through their outstanding commitment of time, service and financial support to the children and families of the Bay Area.
Participated in numerous community activities during his tenure with the Warriors, including reading to French-speaking elementary students.
Has participated in NBA’s Basketball Without Borders program in France, Turkey and China, helping teach both life skills and basketball skills to the local youth, hosted the 2RSEP/Mickael Pietrus Basketball Camp on his native island of Guadeloupe, attended by almost 500 boys and girls, ages 11-21.
Wears a size 14 basketball shoe.
He’s an ambassador of the board of tourism of Guadeloupe, and hosted four Magic fans in Guadeloupe during the summer of 2009 after they won the ‘Discover Guadeloupe with Mickael Pietrus’ contest.
