Miranda Cosgrove is an American film and television actress and pop recording artist. Cosgrove played the roles of Megan Parker in Drake & Josh and title character in iCarly. Her career started at the age of three, participating in television commercials. Cosgrove's film debut was in 2003, as Summer Hathaway in School of Rock.

In 2002, Miranda auditioned for, and landed, the role of snobby Summer Hathaway in the successful comedy, School of Rock, starring Jack Black. At the same time, she found out that the pilot she had filmed for Nickelodeon, Drake and Josh, had been picked up. Things were looking good! Miranda starred as Megan Parker, Drake Bell's little sis, and the show was one of Nickelodeon's most successful, staying on air for four seasons. Now established as one of Nickelodeon's brightest young stars, Miranda got her own show, iCarly.

The starting point of her career was when she got roles in adverts for McDonald's. Later on she auditioned for roles in several movies and TV series. Her audition for the role of a student named Summer Hathaway in the film "School of Rock" starring Jack Black was successful and she began filming in 2002. "School of Rock" went on to be a hit. During School of Rock's premiere, news arrived that a pilot for a TV show she participated in had been green-lit, and that she would be playing the part of Megan Parker, the scheming sister of Drake, in the hit kids' show "Drake & Josh". She also had a role in the 2005 film "Yours, Mine, and Ours". Her character, Joni North, was the sister of Dylan North (Drake Bell), who is her co-star in "Drake & Josh". In 2006, she had a minor role in the film "Keeping Up with the Steins" as Karan Sussman. Also in 2006 a feature-length episode of "Drake & Josh" called "Drake & Josh Go Hollywood" had her again playing the role of Megan Parker, and again in the second feature-length episode "Drake & Josh: Really Big Shrimp", which aired August 3, 2007. In the same year, production on "Drake & Josh" had ceased. Cosgrove has also guest starred in a number of Nickelodeon television shows including "All That", "Zoey 101", "Just Jordan" and "Unfabulous". She plays the role of Carly Shay in the new "Nickelodeon" series "iCarly", that debuted on September 8, 2007. The theme song is performed by Cosgrove, backed up by Drake Bell. Co-starring is Jerry Trainor, who plays Crazy Steve on "Drake & Josh". Also co-starring is Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Kress.

The new album was released in April 2010 and the first single from her album, "Kissin' U", was premiered on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on March 12, 2010, and released to iTunes on March 23, 2010. The album, titled Sparks Fly, debuted and peaked at number 8 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

She signed with Neutrogena on February 12, 2010, as an ambassador for the well-known skincare and cosmetics company. On March 17, 2010, it was reported that Cosgrove had signed a deal, reportedly in the "low- to mid-seven-figure range" to do 26 additional episodes of iCarly. Cosgrove voiced a character in Universal Studios' 3-D computer animated feature Despicable Me, released in July 2010. In January 2011, Cosgrove revealed that her new EP would be titled High Maintenance and also released the first single from the same. The song, titled "Dancing Crazy", was written by Max Martin, Shellback, and Avril Lavigne, and produced by Martin and Shellback. With three weeks of airplay, the song debuted at number forty on the US Billboard Adult Pop Songs.
