One Direction (band) life and biography

One Direction is a five-member boyband made up of Liam Payne (born 29 August 1993) from Wolverhampton, Louis Tomlinson (born 24 December 1991) from Doncaster, Niall Horan (born 13th September 1993) from Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland, Harry Styles, (born 1 February 1994) from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire and Zayn Malik, (born 12 January 1993) from East Bowling, Bradford.

All five boys auditioned for the UK X Factor as solo artists. However, at the suggestion of Simon Cowell and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger they joined forces as a group, quickly becoming one of the competition’s most popular acts of all time, finishing in the final three and garnering a gigantic and loyal fan-base along the way.

The biggest UK breakout group of 2011, One Direction is ready to take America by storm with the US release of their debut album Up All Night0, 2012. Their first single “What Makes You Beautiful” became the fastest selling single of 2011 and entered the chart at #1 in both the UK and Ireland.

In 2012, "What Makes You Beautiful" won the BRIT Award for Best British Single. One Direction supported the album with their Up All Night Tour. They have began recording their second studio album, due for release in late 2012. One Direction's world tour is set for 2013, with tickets grossing $15.7 million for their Australian and New Zealand dates. For 2012, they have prepared a new album, yet to be titled and officially announced.
