Mantra also credited as Rassi, is a South Indian actress who has acted in a number of Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada movies.

Her first movie was Grafthar in Hindi. Her debut film in Tamil was Priyam, while her debut film in Telegu was Subakanshalu.

The career graph of Raasi surprisingly swung in extreme ways in the last two years. While in 1998 she was running neck-to-neck for the top slot with eight releases, it was disasters like AK-47, Harishchandra and Krishnababu that affected her career until she bounced back with Preyasi Raave at the fag end of 1999. She even did some dance numbers in films like Samudram and Seenu and gave her detractors no chance to write her off. But now she has decided not to accept only song numbers even for obligation sake. That is actually a wise decision on her part.

Though Prevasi Raave brought her back into the limelight but again it reaffirmed her image as a performer in Telugu films. In her debut film, Subakanshalu, she got stuck with the image of a serious performer despite her attempts to play varied roles. Gradually she found herself playing characters more that her real age at times.

Today she is again the most sought-after-actress and has once again become the second choice for serious roles after Soundarya in Telugu. She emotes very naturally and underplays her characters without resorting to dramatics. She is determined to prove her mettle in her second innings and has chosen the best films this time. Talking about her role in the much-talked film Ammo Okatothedi, where she plays a typical middle-class girl, she says, "It is close to reality and audience would like a watching the real life happenings in the film. It is nice working with EVV and he is extracting good performances from all the artistes".
