Randall Mario Poffo, better known by his ring name "Macho Man" Randy Savage, was an American professional wrestler and actor best known for his time with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He also had a short run with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

Randy Savage gained national attention in 1985 when he joined the WWE. In a surprise, he named the lovely Miss Elizabeth to be his manager. In real life he was married to the late Elizabeth Heulette. Within months, he had beaten WWE Champion Hulk Hogan twice at Madison Square Garden, but didn't win the title, before winning the Intercontinental Championship from Tito Santana.

Randy Savage's title reign lasted over a year and was the longest title reign to that point. His most notable feuds were with George Steele, who had a crush on Elizabeth, and Ricky Steamboat. He crushed Steamboat's larynx and a few months later lost the title to Steamboat in a classic match at WrestleMania 3. Later in the year he feuded with the Honky Tonk Man over the belt and became friends with Hulk Hogan in the process.

Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan teamed up to form the Mega-Powers. When Hogan was cheated out of his title by Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase, Savage won the vacant title in a tournament by beating four men at WrestleMania IV, with some help from Hogan. Over the corse of the year, their relationship started to get sour and finally exploded on NBC in a 1989 prime time Main Event special. Hogan beat Savage for the title a few weeks later at WrestleMania V.

Shortly after losing the title, Randy Savage beat "King" Jim Duggan and rechristened himself the "Macho King" and had Sherri Martel serve as his new valet. At WrestleMania VII, he lost a retirement match to the Ultimate Warrior but after the match made up with Elizabeth. A few weeks later he proposed to her and they were married at SummerSlam 1991. Jake Roberts gave her a cobra as a wedding gift which led to his eventual return. He would go on to win the WWE Championship from Ric Flair at WrestleMania VIII in a feud where Flair claimed that "Elizabeth was mine before she was yours!".

After being relegated to announcing, Randy Savage joined World Championship Wrestling in 1994. His feud with Flair was reignited when his father, Angelo Poffo, was attacked by Ric Flair. In 1996, Savage was turned on by Hulk Hogan when Hollywood Hogan formed the new World order. A little while later, Savage joined the nWo and had a feud with Dallas Page. In 1999, Savage wasn't resigned by WCW due to cost cutting. He wrestled a few matches for TNA Wrestling in 2004 and 2005.

In his retirement, Savage starred in Spider-Man as Bonesaw McGraw. He also made a rap album in which he challenged Hulk Hogan to a fight due to his real-life beef with Hogan over the breakup of several of his relationships. On May 1, 2003, his ex-wife Miss Elizabeth died from an overdose of a combination of alcohol and pain pills at the home of her boyfriend, former WCW Champion, Lex Luger. For many years, Randy was conspicuous by his absence from many WWE projects he could have been involved in and because of that many rumors have swirled as to why there may have been friction between him and Vince McMahon.

Randy Savage passed away on May 20, 2011. He was involved in a car crash. At this time, it is believed that he suffered a heart attack before driving off the road and hitting a tree. His wife, Lynn, was in the passenger seat and luckily only suffered a few minor injuries. He was 58 years old. It came out after his death that he and Hulk Hogan had just started talking to each other again after not speaking to each other for 10 years.
