CAREER:

Israel’s Shahar Peer achieved a career-high ranking of No. 17 in 2007 when she reached the quarterfinals of the Australian and U.S. Opens. In 2009, she was denied entry into the tournament in Muslin-run United Arab Emirates because of her Israeli citizenship, an event that garnered headlines around the world.
