Susan Mary Alsop aka Susan Mary Jay was an Italian-born American socialite and author.

Washington DC socialite, who purportedly had John F. Kennedy visit her home for ninety minutes on his inauguration night to dine on terrapin soup.

Her ingredients to a successful Washington party: "If you're fortunate enough to get the secretary of state and the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the night of an international crisis... It sounds ghoulish, but it's something you want to have." [The Washington Post, 1987.]

Descendant of John Jay, U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
