Father of Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci passed away aged 76
After he was rushed to a hospital in Bucharest during the holidays, on December 26th Gheorghe Comaneci, the father of the Romanian well known gymnast Nadia Comaneci, passed away on Thursday morning, January 12th. He was 76.
He suffered a digestive hemorrhage on the night of Dec. 25, and doctors from Universitary Hopital in Bucharest gave him blood transfusion, and later diagnosed him with cirrhosis.
In 2000 Comaneci was named as one of the athletes of the century by the Laureus World Sports Academy.
