Golfer Tiger Woods's achilles injury before The Masters confirmed as mild strain

The 36 years old American golfer Tiger Woods may miss The Masters at Augusta for the first time in his career due to his recent Achilles injury which pulled him off the final round of WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral, on Sunday. While Justin Rose became the first European to win this famous title, Woods was in contrast to him, looking not only injured but sad. And for good reasons, as he has not finished a full PGA TOUR season since 2007 due to injuries and personal issues.

Within five minutes, he was driving off the Doral property in a black Mercedes, leaving behind a multitude of questions. Chief among them, of course, is whether he has any chance of being fit for the Masters in less than a month's time. "I felt tightness in my left achilles when warming up this morning," Woods said in a statement later.

A six-time champion at the Palmer International, Woods disclosed late Monday that tests' results on his sore left Achilles' tendon revealed a mild strain, keeping open the chance he could return in time for next week's Arnold Palmer Invitational. "Got good news from doc tonight," the golfer told his Twitter followers. "Only mild strain of left Achilles. Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week."
