Melissa Gilbert, 47, filed for divorce from husband Bruce Boxleitner citing irreconcilable differences on Thursday, August 25.

Gilbert and Boxleitner already announced their separation several months ago, in March after 16 years of marriage.

People reports that Gilbert is seeking joint custody of the couple's 15-year-old son, Michael.

On Wednesday, Melissa's younger sister The Talk's Sara Gilbert, 36, announced her split from partner of 10 years Allison Adler.
