Pirates of Caribbean actor Johnny Depp amicably separates from Vanessa Paradis

The publicist for Johnny Depp has revealed in a statement on Tuesday, June 19th that the actor has separated from his wife, French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis. According to the statement the two "have amicably separated." It also requested privacy for the former couple and their two children, 9-year-old son, Jack, and 13-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose.

The announcement follows widespread reports earlier this year that the couple's relationship was on the rocks, although Depp denied rumours in May of a split. Depp, 49 and Paradis, 39 met in 1998 but never married during their 14-year relationship. The American actor and the French model-singer lived together with their children in France.

Depp rose to fame in the 1980s in the Fox television series '21 Jump Street', leading to films including Donnie Brasco, Chocolat, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and numerous collaborations with the director Tim Burton.
