Hugh Jackman and 'Real Steel' topped in Box Office this weekend
'Real Steel' has topped the North American box office this weekend, leaving to George Clooney and his recent movie 'Ides Of March' the second place and made last week's No.1 'Dolphin Tale' to fall on the third place. The movie collected $9.1 million.
The Hugh Jackman-starring robot-boxing action drama earned $27.3 million at its openning week. The political thriller 'Ides Of March' gathered $10.4 million. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt's baseball drama 'Moneyball' stays on number four with an estimated $7.5 million.
Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks SKG and Walt Disney Co. is a visual-effects-laden film features Jackman as an absentee father who trains robots to fight in the ring and marked Steven's third biggest opening ever for a Columbus Day weekend movie.
Dave Hollis, Walt Disney Pictures executive vice president of distribution said, "The film succeeded in playing to a variety of demos." The Shawn Levy-directed movie appealed to 36% of moviegoers under the age of 18 and 51% under the age of 25, with 59% of them males.
Gitesh Pandya, chief executive officer at movie-tracker BoxOfficeGuru.com. said in a telephone interview: "Breaking $25 million in October is something you don't see too often. There hasn't been a big action movie since the summer, and I think action audiences have been craving something like this."

1. Real Steel - $27.3 million ($22.1 million international).
2. The Ides of March - $10.4 million.
3. Dolphin Tale - $9.2 million.
4. Moneyball - $7.5 million.
5. 50/50 - $5.5 million.
6. Courageous - $4.6 million.
7. The Lion King - $4.55 million ($7.3 million international).
8. Dream House - $4.5 million.
9. What's Your Number? - $3.1 million ($2.8 million international).
10. Abduction - $2.9 million ($4 million international).
