Vanessa Redgrave given a tribute for her 50-year acting career

The 74-year-old actress Vanessa Redgrave will be honored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, during an event held in London on Sunday, November 13th. Vanessa is given a tribute for her 50-year acting career.

Vanessa won an Oscar decades ago, in 1977 for her supporting role in "Julia", playing an anti-Nazi activist murdered by the Germans.

She is currently starring alongside actor James Earl Jones in the stage production "Driving Miss Daisy", at London's West End. Jones will be joining Meryl Streep and Ralph Fiennes at the Sunday's Academy event the third annual Governors Awards, in Las Vegas. Jones, who played in more than 50 films, received an honorary Oscar on Saturday for his long career. "I'm deeply honored, mighty grateful and just plain gobsmacked," the 80-year-old actor said via video from London.

At the same honorary-given ceremony were named make-up artist Dick Smith and media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Dick was honored for his long film career, and Oprah received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. The award honors Oprah's philanthropic and humanitarian contributions which also includes her own namesake foundations and Academy for Girls in South Africa.
